Chef Garry Waldie joined Cordon Bleu Schools at Scottsdale Culinary Institute in 2005. As lead instructor, he is involved in curricula, lectures, demonstrations and recipe development for both the Culinary and Patisserie Baking Programs. Garry loves to share his passion and dedication to the craft of cookery and his positive attitude towards life with his students, colleagues and friends. As a student of cultures he brings his global travel experiences to his kitchen.
Chef Waldie has thirty years experience preparing American, French and continental cuisines in educational, commercial and private estate environments. Coming from a family of chefs and restaurateurs he began his career in his father's kitchen. As a cooks journeyman he apprenticed with the Federation Culinaire Canadienne (CCFCC). After his internship in Calgary, Alberta he moved to Philadelphia and earned the titles of Certified Executive Chef, Certified Culinary Educator and Certified Executive Pastry Chef, bestowed by the ACF. Committed to the culinary arts, Garry serves as an administrator and examiner for the American Culinary Federation's (ACF) Certification Program and mentor to young culinarians.
The American Culinary Federation's honor society recently named Chef Waldie as Western Regional Director of the American Academy of Chefs (AAC). In 2006 the American Academy of Chefs presented Garry with the prestigious AAC Sharing the Traditions Award for his lifetime commitment to promoting excellence in the education of professional chefs. In 2002, the ACF Philadelphia Chapter named Waldie "Philadelphia ACF Chef of the Year". As an award winning chef he has been the recipient of numerous hot and cold food salon medals for both culinary and patisserie arts exhibits and his contribution and support to various benefits such as ACF Chef and Child, March of Dimes' Star Chefs, Chocolate Symphony of Alzheimer Association, SCAN (Stop Child Abuse) or Easter Seals projects. Chef Waldie serves on various culinary college and Vo-Technical education boards.
Living in Arizona, Chef Waldie enjoys reading, traveling with his wife and learning more about various foods and cultures.
